Following the extraction of one or more of your teeth you should care of the following;

·          Avoid vigorous mouth washing, violent exercise, stimulants, or very hot food or drink for the rest of the day to minimize risk of post operative extraction hemorrhage.

·          The extraction wound should be cleansed up by rinsing the mouth with warm saline immediately before going to bed on the day of operation.

·          Use hot saline mouth bath frequently during the following 2-3 days (half a teaspoon full of salt in tumbler of warm water.)

·          Patient should be warned of biting his lips, tongue or cheeks, as they remain numb for 2-3 hours post operative.

·          Sutures should be left in site for 7 days.

·          A suitable analgesic could be given if pain exists.

 In presence of dry socket (this clinical entity is a localized osteitis involving either the whole or a part of the condensed bone lining a tooth socket, the lamina dura. the condition is characterized by an acutely painful tooth socket containing bare bone and broken-down blood-clot.)

·          Irrigation with warm saline intensively.

·          Prescribe an appropriate anti biotic and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory analgesic.
