Following the
extraction of one or more of your teeth you should care of the following;
·
Avoid vigorous
mouth washing, violent exercise, stimulants, or very hot food or drink for the rest of the day to minimize risk of post operative
extraction hemorrhage.
·
The extraction
wound should be cleansed up by rinsing the mouth with warm saline immediately before going to bed on the day of operation.
·
Use hot saline
mouth bath frequently during the following 2-3 days (half a teaspoon full of salt in tumbler of warm water.)
·
Patient should
be warned of biting his lips, tongue or cheeks, as they remain numb for 2-3 hours post operative.
·
Sutures should
be left in site for 7 days.
·
A suitable
analgesic could be given if pain exists.
In presence
of dry socket (this clinical entity is a localized osteitis involving either the whole or a part of the condensed bone lining
a tooth socket, the lamina dura. the condition is characterized by an acutely painful tooth socket containing bare bone and
broken-down blood-clot.)
·
Irrigation
with warm saline intensively.
·
Prescribe
an appropriate anti biotic and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory analgesic.
·
In case of
post operative swelling:
·
Cold soaks
of water are useful.
